USE YOUR THINKERS!
The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven:
In the New Testament, the word for "leaven" is zume in the original Greek writings.
Extended from the word zeo...in connection with the word zēlos
(Latin to late Middle English equivalent is the term zeal)....
For the sound of boiling water....to bubble over because of heat.
Water boils at a lower temperature, so cooking in boiling water will take longer.
Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire--with the head, legs and internal organs.
for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
Leaven, as a noun, is that which causes transformation....
changes the very nature of a thing(consumes it if you will). It's operation is clouded in mystery.... Leaven spreads by contact of particles with particle; it is widely diffusive, one particle of leaven has the ability to change any number of particles it comes in contact with into its own nature.
It’s the source WITHIN yeast that makes bread rise:
He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
_The kingdom of God is WITHIN you.
-For in Him we live and move and have our being.’
Leavening agents will have more rising power at lower atmospheric pressure. The attenuated air provides less resistance to the gases created by the leavening agent.
Leavened baked food rise faster, causing yeast breads to double in volume before they can get the same flavor from the yeast as they do at sea level. Cooks adjust for this by punching the dough down an extra time, and let it rise again.
-Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry"...
-He is not here; He has risen.
-The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead,
lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead,
He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living WITHIN you.
Cakes also rise too fast, and then the bubbles pop, and the cake collapses. Cooks adjust to this quandary by increasing the strength of the dough by adding more egg and more flour, and cook the cake at a higher temperature for a shorter time, so the dough sets before the bubbles pop.
For He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
....which a WOMAN took:
Noteworthy is the fact that a man is usually the main character in many other parables.
Feminine pronouns are used in
the holy scriptures below:
-1 How deserted lies the city,
once so full of people!
How like a WIDOW is SHE,
who once was great among the nations!
SHE who was QUEEN among the provinces
has now become a slave.
Bitterly SHE weeps at night,
tears are on HER cheeks.
Among all HER lovers
there is no one to comfort HER.
All HER friends have betrayed HER;
they have become HER enemies.
After affliction and harsh labor,
Judah has gone into exile.
SHE dwells among the nations;
SHE finds no resting place.
All who pursue HER have overtaken HER
in the midst of HER distress.
The roads to Zion mourn,
for no one comes to HER appointed festivals.
All HER gateways are desolate,
HER priests groan,
HER young women grieve,
and SHE is in bitter anguish.
Her foes have become HER masters;
HER enemies are at ease.
The Lord has brought HER grief
because of HER many sins.
Her children have gone into exile,
captive before the foe.
All the splendor has departed
from DAUGHTER Zion.
HER princes are like deer
that find no pasture;
in weakness they have fled
before the pursuer.
In the days of HER affliction and wandering
Jerusalem remembers all the treasures
that were HERS in days of old.
When HER people fell into enemy hands,
there was no one to help HER.
Her enemies looked at HER
and laughed at HER destruction.
The city and nation is symbolized as a woman.
The same is truth with the church:
-25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church
and gave himself up for HER
26 to make HER holy, cleansing HER by the washing
with water through the word.
27 and to present HER to himself as a radiant church, without stain
or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
_Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage
of the Lamb is come, and his WIFE hath made HERSELF ready:
("till the whole was leavened").
-And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out
of heaven, prepared as a BRIDE adorned for HER husband.
The symbolic depiction is in referral to
the intimate relationship of God and believers....comparable to the union of marriage:
(Genesis 2:24 and Mark 10:8)
-and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two
(separated), but one flesh (together).
This is what the kingdom is like..it involves the woman's
(Israel and the church) participation..which is very significant...in so much..that both are the recipient of satan's rage.
-1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman (Israel/church) clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head (twelve tribes of Israel and twelve disciples of Christ).
2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon (satan) with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.
Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman (Israel/church) sits,
Rome has been known as the, "City of the Seven Hills"......
But the text speaks of mountains, not hills. The woman is on top..which denotes authority..perhaps spiritual control...as the knowledge of the Most High came through Israel..(later via the church). It was Israel responsibility to reveal God's plan to humanity.....
(as it is the church's duty to proclaim the way of salvation):
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
But Israel (later the church) often found herself failing in her mission.. That mission was:
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, because salvation originates with the Jews. (John 4:22)
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
The seven mountains (heads on the red dragon) are also seven kings
... the picture becomes a little clearer...
That the woman is in a position of power and influence over seven kings and their kingdoms...
What more is said about this woman (Israel/the church) now:
1.One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters.
2 With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.”
3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.
We know this is the same woman (Israel/church) who becomes corrupt:
1 Corinthians 5:6 & 7
6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?
7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.
....as we see in verse three..she is located in the wilderness..
and verse four speaks of her adulteries behavior which God constantly addressed.
The Lord said to Hosea, “Go and marry a girl who is a prostitute, so that some of her children will be born to you from other men. This will illustrate the way my people have been untrue to me, committing open adultery against me by worshiping other gods.” (Hosea 1:2)
I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries (Jeremiah 3:8).
(Revelation 17: 10 & 11)
10 and they are seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come (antichrist); and when he comes, he must remain a little while.
11 The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes to destruction.…
So the Beast (being the eighth and one of the seven..who WAS and is not) may refer to him being one of the kings or kingdoms that has fallen, but will be revived during the end of our era under his leadership....many believe this to be the city of Rome...
Revelation 17: 12-14
12 The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast.
13 They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth (fallen angels). The dragon stood in front of the woman (Israel/church) who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment He(Christ)was born.
5 She gave birth to a son, a male child(Christ), who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[ And her child was snatched up to God(resurrection) and to HIS throne (He is).
6 The woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
(Revelation 12:7-9 &13-17)
7 Then war broke out in heaven (universe). Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven (universe).
9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman (Israel/church) who had given birth to the male child.
14 The woman (Israel/church) was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.
15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman (Israel/church) and sweep her away with the torrent.
Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.
16. The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God’s words are fulfilled......
"TILL the whole was leavened"
“Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.
For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
Deliverance comes from God:
You stretch out your right hand,
and the earth swallows your enemies.
Then the dragon was enraged at the woman (Israel/church) and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.
(The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and HID in three measures of meal)
The word for hid in this scripture is the Greek word enkrupto...where we get our english word encrypt. The root word, krupto means;
"to conceal"" or to "hide in" or "to mix." .."to keep secret.".
-But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book
until the END OF TIME; many will go back and forth, and
knowledge will increase.
"until the time of the end"
"TILL the whole was leavened":
-I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter HIDDEN things, things from of old--
-Jesus spoke all these things to the CROWD in parables; He did not say anything to them without using a parable.
(.....that a woman took and HID)
from the crowd... They do not receive that which they reject:
(Matthew 7: 13 & 14)
-13.Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is
broad that leads to destruction, and there are many (the crowd) who enter through it.
14"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life,
and there are few (believers) who find it.
(1 Corinthians 1:18)
-For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is that which is despised in the sight of men..that God esteem:
-He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and
familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was
despised, and we held him in low esteem.
-The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone..
(1 Corinthians 12:23)
-The parts of the body that we think are less
honorable are the ones we honor the most. The private parts of our
body that aren't presentable are the ones that are given the most
For God does not judge as we do:
-He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
(1 Samuel 16:7)
-But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or
his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the
things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the
LORD looks at the heart."
Only a person with the key to the encryption:
-I will give you the KEYS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN;whatever you bind
on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will
be loosed in heaven."
....knows what the message is saying:
(John 16: 29 and 30)
-29.Then his disciples said, "At last you are speaking plainly and
30.Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even
need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God."
Besides all things reveal themselves and their nature in due season:
(Luke 12:1 and 2)
-1.Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither HID, that shall not be known.
(1 Corinthians 3:13)
-their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work.
....in THREE measures of meal:
It was customary for Jewish women at that time to use such a quantity;
1. to ferment the flour,
2. knead the dough,
3. and make the bread.
_So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah."Quick," he said,
"get THREE seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread."
There are THREE types of leavening in baking:
1. The chemical leaveners (such as baking powder, baking soda, etc.)
2. The biological(Natural) leaveners (yeast, both wild (sourdough, and domesticated)
3. The “unsung”(Mechanical) leaveners (inherent agents within the ingredients)
1.Chemical Leavening is the late comer..discovered..roughly
around 1796. It is the most familiar and controllable out of the three. Once it is mixed in...it dissolves and starts to activate..
when it is prompted by moisture, heat, or both.
Once the liquid is saturated, it begins to transfer
into the bubbles of air that are trapped in the batter. The process is fast. When there is a chemical combination...it creates a salt of leavening..
-You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
2. The biological(Natural)leaveners has been the main form of leavening throughout human history. It takes advantage of the yeast, an ubiquitous part of nature (which makes it impossible to completely deleaven it from the environment), biological substance.
The use of a chemical component to leaven a whole lump quickly was possibly what Paul made references in Galatians 5:9
“A little leaven leavens the whole lump”.
(That such a small, but powerful, amount can impact the whole at
a very rapid rate).
3. Mechanical means of leavening used in assisting to maximize trapped
air to react with other combination to produce “structure” to
a bread product.
Examples are: The process of “creaming” or through the use of cream
and egg whites, cooking bread with steam, or the use of whisking in bread ingredients.
This type of leavening is probably the most subtle
(The hardest to identify):
What distinguishes one from the other has to do with the speed
and timing of the leavener.
....in three MEASURES of meal:
The Hebrew seah (which is a unit of dry measure used in Halakha-
(Jewish law) held somewhere between 7.33 litres to almost twice that
amount in estimation.. Three of these are(known as"three seahs", or
"measures") made an ephah.
Gideon gave an ephah, unto the Lord:
-18 Please do not depart from here, until I come back to You, and bring out my offering and lay it before You." And He said, "I will remain until you return."
19 Then Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread from an ephah of flour; he put the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, and brought them out to him under the oak and presented them.
Hannah's thanks offering was one ephah:
(I Samuel 1:24)
-After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was,
along with a three-year-old bull,an ephah of flour and a
skin of wine, and brought him to the
house of the Lord at Shiloh.
An ephah given at the Feast during the Millennium
(Ezekiel 45:24 and 46:5, 7, and 11)
He is to provide as a grain offering an ephah for each bull and
an ephah for each ram, along with a hin of olive oil for each ephah.
The grain offering given with the ram is to be an ephah,
and the grain offering with the lambs is to be as much as he pleases, along with a hin of olive oil for each ephah.
And he shall provide a grain offering, an ephah with the bull and an ephah with the ram, and with the lambs as much as he is able, and a hin of oil with an ephah.
At the feasts and the appointed festivals, the grain offering is
to be an ephah with a bull, an ephah with a ram, and with the lambs as much as he pleases, along with a hin of oil for each ephah.
.....in three measure of MEAL:
Leaven was often a symbol of sin, corruption, wickedness, and hypocrisy..
It is in this manner Jesus warned them of the deception of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
(Matthew 16:6 and 12)
- 6. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
12.Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
For it was not the leaven of bread that brought corruption, but the false teachings taught by the Pharisees and of the Sadducees through their interpretations..People often confused that which is written with that which is interpreted...They are not one and the same.
(2 Peter 1:20)
-Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
-Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.
-Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.
Leaven within a meal offering was not kosher.
-Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened
bread from the first day until the seventh day,
that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
This custom was to remind Israel to rid their heart of evil.
The meal offering was a time to dine with God (fellowship)..it was given as a gift from a sincere heart full of devotion.
-And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock:
That devotion showed in the fact..that the offerings came from the giver's own labor..in both purchasing and preparing the meal...and it was a complete meal..one that consisted of grains, oils; as well as the meat....all to be burnt.
The use of leaven was prohibited in nearly all the sacrifices offered to God on the altar.
So what was the point of Christ including it in His illustration?
There are some instances in which leaven is mentioned as a neutral or even a positive connotation.
- Besides the cakes, as his offering he shall offer leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offering.
Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven,
Proclaim and announce the freewill offerings;
For this you love,
You children of Israel!”
Says the Lord God.
You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of
an ephah. They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven.
They are the firstfruits to the Lord.
This brings us to Peter's rooftop experience:
9. About noon the following day as they were on their journey and
approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
10. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the MEAL
was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds.
13. Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.
14. "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
15. The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
16. This happened THREE times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
For it is not about the food laws, but about the Word of God...
When King David was hungry, he entered the house of God with his companions and ate the consecrated bread...lawful only for the
(1 Samuel 21:6)
So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot
bread in the day when it was taken away.
(2 Corinthians 2:15)
-For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved,
and in them that perish:
Besides spiritual contamination comes from the heart (which is within)
Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life (as leaven is the source of yeast).
19. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, thefts, false witness, slanders.…
...as all food is purged at some point:
-What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."
-17.Do you not understand that everything that goes into the
mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated?
18 But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
-Man shall not live by bread alone (Food laws), but by every word of God.
What is that word?
-In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
-And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth
It is the Word (One) within us:
-This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
-I have HIDDEN your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
The Bible panorama of time consist of three dispensations
("three measures" or "three seahs" )
Beginning with creation to the day of Christ. It is within this providence that humans interacted more intimately with the Father God...
(The first Hebrew seah or measure)
Whether in was directly and audibly with Adam in the garden
-Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden)
or visibly with Moses.
The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.
There were no "biblical" written law that existed before Moses led the people of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, and taken to Horeb, to Mount Sinai.....
were the finger of God penned His law(what is commonly known as Mosaic Law....
which teaches against the notion that the Word of God was
authored by man)
So has GOD been seen face to face or not?
Not that any man hath seen the Father, except he which is of God, he has seen the Father.
Keywords is :"except he which is of God".... "he has seen the Father"... The Bible clearly tells us that those which are of God has seen the Father God..those which Christ reveals the Father too:
No man has ever seen God [Father], at any time; the only begotten God [Jesus himself is God], Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence]of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be SEEN!!!!; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].
(1 Timothy 6:16)
who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen.
Moses seen the Father outside of that light..as God was revealed and brought out for Moses to talk with him face to face (outside of the light)..
Moses asks God to see His glory(that light):
18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
And God answers him concerning...his question:
19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
20 But,” He said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see Me and live.”
21 Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock.
22 When my GLORY passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”
On a smaller scale..this can be understood with the anointing upon Moses after being in the presences of God...his face too was full of light/glory and needed to be veiled:
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.
30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.
31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them.
32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.
33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.
34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded,
35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.
There exist a pure and intimate relationship with God..one in which very few are ever privilege to experience....not because He is not accessible, but because most people reject such intimacy in favor of sin. The desire to sin is stronger than the crave to know
-19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works
20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
....to be in hot pursuit of His heart (to long for pleasing Him).
Many may believe He exist, but only a small number of people
seek Him out...to really get to know Him..
-God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
And because of the lack of interest on human's part..either
being passively indifferent to actively in opposition toward God..the lines of communication between us and the Creator seem to have gradually diminish.
It went from directly to indirectly through prophets, dreams,
visions, objects such as the Urim and Thummim or prayer.
Yet out of His love...
He made the first move to reconcile that which we broke.
-But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God provided a way to communicate with us once again:
-but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son,
whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe.
It is within the second phase that "God Is with Us" in the physical personification of the SON (The second Hebrew seah/measure). This was the shortest period, but powerful, and had the greatest impact on the whole at a very rapid rate)
He accomplished His task quickly (yet unrealized by most):
-For He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness:
because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
-When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said,
"It is finished":
and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.
-After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Messiah will
be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple
(fulfilled in 70 AD). The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end
......."till the whole was leavened (Ready)".
-From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence TAKE it by force.
....which a woman TOOK:
The common Greek word used for "took" means "to come into possession of." or "to seize," "to take by force."
It's the greek word paralambano..which insightfully means:
"to take to, to take with one's self, to join to one's self" in
companionship...resulting in friendship...
-"Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend."
....the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent
TAKE it by force.
The salvation of believers was established by a heavy and violent price:
1.Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge..my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors
A price in which the church must continue to pay:
"and men of violence TAKE it by force" (and not the violence or force the world demonstrate..but the one our Lord and Savior exhibited by His submission to the cross.
-He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death--
even death on a cross!
To bring us back into companionship with God the Father:
(2 Corinthians 5:19)
-That God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us (the church)the word of reconciliation.…
"and the violent TAKE it by force":
-save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy,
mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
There is simply no room for Christians to compromise the Word of God..when souls are at stake (including their own):
(1 Corinthians 9:27)
-But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
In this dispensation (measure)...the manifestation of the Holy Spirit (The third Hebrew seah) is obtainable:
-I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may be with you forever;
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him
because He abides with you and will be WITHIN you.
And when exactly did we enter into this dispensation
(which is considered the "last days")?
1.When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven
and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated
and came to rest on each of them.
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from
every nation under heaven.
6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking
8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea
and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene;
visitors from Rome
11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed
the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the
16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel(2:28):
“‘IN THE LAST DAYS, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son.
This is approximately 2,000 years ago (and counting)..
Keep in mind that a thousand years is as one day to God
(Psalm 90:4, 2 Peter 3:8)...meaning We are in the second day of those last dayS.
The existence of time is illusory.
There are no fixed boundaries in eternity
(so what may appear as a thousand years in the external/material world to humans may appear as a day in infinity where God exist). As the past, present, and future exist simultaneously....It's like space; it is simply there extending in both directions.
How much longer do we have to go
"till the WHOLE was leavened"?
until the harvest (Which is the "End Times"..
which is not the same as these "Last Days";
-But he said, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares,
you may uproot the wheat with them.
Allow both to grow together until the harvest;
and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers
(angels-Revelation 14:14 & 15
Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like the son of man,
having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand.
And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a
loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud,
“Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come,
because the harvest of the earth is ripe”),
First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up(hell); but gather the wheat into my barn (heaven).
Before..this harvest... We are promised a brief return of the Lord to remove His believers from the "Great tribulation".. This is known as the "Rapture"...
(Which is to take place during the latter end of those seven years of tribulation..the first half is
a sense of false peace...)
(2 Thessalonians 2:1 and 6 & 7)
-Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being
gathered to Him..
-And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed
at the proper time.
While in prison with the prospect of execution, Paul penned a heartfelt letter to the ecclesia of Philippi. He showed his gratitude towards the Philippians munificence throughout his epistle.
It was customary, but not mandatory, in the first-century to begin a letter with expression of appreciation. Paul, not only offered the traditional greeting by expressing his thanks for their support of his evangelistic work (Philippians 1:3–5), he incessantly reminded them of how grateful he was. This could be seen in the closing, where he
acknowledged the gifts they sent at the hands of Epaphroditus (VS 18).
The totality of the writing of Philippians is included in the Pauline corpus as a unit, unlike the compositions of the Thessalonians
(both written around 52 AD) or those of the Corinthians
(both written around 56 AD) showing them as separate letters. The Muratorian Canon which dates to 170-200 A.D.includes the book of
Philippians in its extant list.
The emerging church patterned themselves (Chapter 3: 17) after Paul's theological views. For example, Paul used a century old text from Isaiah 45:23 and applied it to the exalted Lord (Philippians 2: 10 & 11). As an religiously educated Jew, he very much understood this script was messianic in nature. Paul's rabbinical training was under the guidance of Gamaliel (Acts 22:3), who was a renowned leader in the Sanhedrin in those days (Acts 5:34). Gamaliel is said to have later converted to Christianity.
All the hardship Paul endured was worth the salvation of the Philippians. He exhorted them to stay true, not desirous that his missionary labor be in vain. (VS 1)
But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved
Paul pleaded for reconciliation among two friends who were very helpful to him in proselytizing in the past (VS 2&3). The letter goes on to instruct adherents to replace worry with prayer when it comes to needs (VS 6)...in doing so, one will gain the kind of inner peace that surpasses human logic (VS 7).
Let your strength be rooted in Christ (VS 13). This level of trust brings a quiet (VS 7) and uninterrupted contentment in whatever state
we find ourselves in (Vs 12). Whether we are hungry, we know that man shall not live on bread alone (Matthew 4:4) or lack clothing, for we
learned that the body is more than garments (Matthew 6:25).
As the philosophy goes, We are what we think (Proverbs 23:7), Paul encourage them to meditate on qualities that will edify (VS 8); in hopes of
producing Christlike characteristics (VS 9).
1 Corinthians 11:1
Be imitators of me as I am of Christ.
